Sensation

Sensations are a primal way that we interact with the world around us. On a basic level sensations are the messengers that tell us to move away from something that is painful (like when you touch a hot stove) or to move toward something pleasurable (such as a hug). Paying attention to our sensations is critical to becoming more embodied and experiencing more erotic pleasure.

Many of us, over the years, have cut ourselves off from experiencing a full range of sensations because of past traumatic experiences or health issues such as pain or illness, etc.  At the time, this detachment from our sensations was probably the best coping mechanism we had. But maintaining this state over time means that we limit ourselves in the physical experiences of pleasurable sensation, even as we feel we are protecting ourselves from pain.

If we can move towards experiencing more sensation in our bodies through breath, movement, and touch, we expand the possibilities of feeling pleasure and ecstasy in our bodies.

Meditation is a useful practice for exploring physical sensation in the body. This Guided Body Meditation offers you a way to check in with the sensations in your body. It can be a great way to connect with yourself and become more grounded in the sensations of your body before engaging in erotic play.
