Solo erotic trance is a way to access the deepest parts of
our sexuality. Through conscious self-loving touch, breath,
movement, and masturbation we can connect with our potential for
experiencing pleasure. We start with exploring solo eroticism
because knowing about your own sexuality is a lifelong love
affair. Lovers and partners come and go throughout our life but
we always have self-pleasure.
When delving into the exploration of our erotic self, we invariable come up against our history of shame, negative message we have taken in about our bodies, and a whole range of emotions. As you go through the videos and worksheets in this section, I invite you to be as gentle with yourself as you can. Getting in touch with your own body’s erotic energy can be a powerful experience.
Remember there is no right or wrong way to do this work. Take your time. Notice how your body feels. Notice any emotions or thoughts that come up for you through out this process. You might wish to keep a journal if writing helps you process your experience.
All of the videos and worksheets are suggestions for ways of approaching this exploration; find what works for you. Dare to be playful and enjoy this process of getting to know your erotic self.
Through breath we are moving the energy through our body, movement helps in increasing the flow. You can be as slow or fast as you want in your movement. The intention is to drop into the feelings of your body and quiet the mind. Stretching, exercise, and dance are some great ways to connect with your body through movement.

Touch is another great way to connect with your body and really notice the sensations of pleasure in your body. I find it best to incorporate touch with breath and movement to get the full body effect of connection and movement of our erotic energy.
Often we feel self-conscious when touching ourselves or the noise of self-judgment about how we look starts to arise. As women we tend to spend a lot of time comparing ourselves to others and/or feeling displeased by some attribute of our physical self.
As we engage in conscious touch it’s important to be gentle with ourselves. Setting the intention of creating a space of self-loving touch that coincides with building erotic energy can be a great way to begin to let go of the judgment.

Many of us have not been taught about the anatomy of our genitals. They are hidden from view for the most part and there are lots of cultural taboos that have cut us off from exploring below the belt. I am a firm believer in the power that comes from knowing our genitals both visually and kinesthetically. I encourage you to have a hand mirror – or a free standing make up mirror that will allow you to easily see your genitals from a slightly reclined seated position.

Through masturbation we have found that our clitoris is a spot that feels GOOD to touch. However, we may not have spent much time touching the other parts of our vulva and experiencing what feels good on, for example, our outer labia.
Many of us who have engaged in penetrative partner sex may also know how little time is spent on the outside and how much emphasis is placed on getting inside the vagina. With this in mind, taking our time and slowly exploring our entire vulva can offer some new insights into the kind of touch that your vulva enjoys.

As with external touch, many of us have had rushed or unpleasant experiences with internal touch or penetration of our vaginas. Because of the structure of the vagina, the muscles around the opening need to be relaxed enough to allow for penetration and arousal needs to happen to start the process of lubrication. When we rush often one or both of these physiological aspects of the vagina has not been given enough time.
Taking our time and exploring the inside of our vagina when it is ready to receive can be an enlightening experience. Really take your time to listen to what your body is saying before you go inside.

Erotic Trance takes many forms but at its core is a letting go of the mind and dropping into the sensations of the body. Erotic trance can sometimes feel scary because there is a loss of control as your involuntary musculature takes over. You may feel the desire to contract around these sensations to gain control; I encourage you instead to breath into them and see what happens.
It’s important also to recognize that the video is just one experience for one person. There are multitudes of ways that erotic trance can look and feel. Ultimately, this is about your experience in your body. If you notice any comparative or judgmental thoughts coming into your mind, acknowledge them, breath and see if you can let them go for now.
